What is Static Electricity
Static electricity is fixed electricity or basically electricity that is not on the move. This electricity is stored and can only jump from one object to another. You can see static electricity everywhere. From rubbing a balloon on your head to the lightning we see during a storm..
what exactly is lightningOn the ground, it gets hot. The air above the ground gets hot as well. The rising air (water vapor) continues to compile and becomes a cloud. In this cloud, the top of it is very cold. The water vapor at the top cloud becomes ice at this point. This cloud is now a thunder cloud. Little pieces of ice in the cloud move around and create an electrical charge. After the whole cloud becomes charged up, the positive charges move to the top of the cloud whereas the negative ones sink to the bottom. From here, the negative charges repel other objects. This allows to jump onto buildings and trees and of that sort. We see that action in the form of the sparks that could potentially damage whatever it hits.

how can we prevent or reduce Static electricity is very dangerous and can cause house fires but you can prevent lightning strikes from damaging your house by placing a lighting rod on top of it. Basically what the lightning rod does is attract the charge from the lightning bolt and direct to the ground. The lightning is directed to the ground through a thin wire, usually made of copper or aluminum. This process will not cause any damage to your house.
